Revolutionising the future: artificial intelligence in dermatology
Abstract
In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed healthcare, particularly in dermatology. AI technologies have enhanced diagnostic accuracy, improved patient management, and accelerated research in skin disorders.
Advanced machine learning (ML) and computer vision techniques provide tools for the early detection of skin diseases, prognosis modelling, and personalised treatment strategies.
Dermatology has historically embraced technological innovations to optimise patient care. Key applications of AI in dermatology include diagnosing skin diseases through visual pattern recognition and expanding access to care via teledermatology. AI-driven analytics facilitate personalised treatment plans, marking a significant advancement in patient care. However, challenges such as data privacy, algorithmic bias, and the ethical implications of AI decisions must be addressed. This essay explores the future of dermatology in the AI landscape, highlighting potential applications, benefits, challenges, and ethical considerations.
