A study of skin diseases in children with obsessive-compulsive behaviour and learning disability

Psychodermatology is an emerging subspecialty that addresses skin diseases linked to obsessive-compulsive behaviours (OCB) driven by intrusive thoughts. This study examined the characteristics of skin diseases associated with OCB, learning difficulties, and childhood stressors using the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) for behavioural assessment. The findings indicate a strong link between OCB-related skin diseases, learning difficulties, and behavioural issues in Sri Lankan children, underscoring the need for early psychological intervention and a multidisciplinary approach to care.
