Mastectomy Under Regional Anaesthesia in a High-Risk Patient with Severe Pulmonary Hypertension and Myelodysplasia: A Case Report
Abstract
We report the case of a 63-year-old woman with severe pulmonary hypertension and myelodysplasia who underwent right mastectomy with axillary clearance under regional anaesthesia with light sedation. Ultrasound-guided serratus anterior plane block, pectoral nerve block I, and parasternal block were performed, with light sedation using remifentanil and propofol. The avoidance of general anaesthesia in this patient with severe pulmonary hypertension proved to be beneficial, with an uneventful postoperative course. The use of regional anaesthesia in the management of patients with high risk of complications during mastectomies is emphasized.
