Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm: A Cadaveric Case Report

An abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a localized dilation of the abdominal aorta exceeding 3 cm in diameter and may remain asymptomatic until rupture. This case report describes an incidental finding of an unruptured AAA in a 73-year-old male cadaver during routine dissection in Sri Lanka. The aneurysm measured 6.5 cm in length and 3.3 cm in diameter, and was located below the renal arteries at the origin of the inferior mesenteric artery, just above the aortic bifurcation. Awareness of this pathological condition is important for early detection and prevention of life-threatening complications.
