Abstract

In the context of rural tourism, private homestays are little known to be comparable to community homestays. Even, both kinds of homestays offer lodging services in a familiar environment in rural areas. In this study, homestay guests participated to examine the strengths and weaknesses of both types of homestays. A comparative analysis indicates that community homestays hold numerous strengths and few weaknesses. The quality of homestay service can be improved by combining the strengths of one type of homestay into another. The results of this study may assist homestay managers in gaining a more comprehensive understanding of the overall homestay services.
