Abstract
Sadvṛtta, as explained in the Carakasaṃhitā, articulates the principles of righteous conduct that form the foundation of physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being. Ayurveda teaches that health is not merely the absence of disease, but a balanced and harmonious way of life. In relation to the research question, “How can the teachings of the Carakasaṃhitā contribute to social welfare?”, this study employs a qualitative research methodology to examine the concept and teachings of Sadvṛtta presented in the Carakasaṃhitā and their relevance to contemporary social well-being. Specifically, the study highlights the fundamental principles of Sadvṛtta, including truthfulness, emotional self-control, concern for others' welfare, cleanliness, respect for elders, emotional stability, and awareness of oneself, others, and the environment. These ethical and health-related values help prevent stress, social conflict, and lifestyle-related disorders, while fostering both personal and social harmony. In the modern world, where anxiety, social tension, and moral decline have become increasingly prevalent, Sadvṛtta offers a practical framework for promoting healthy conduct and responsible living. In conclusion, the adoption of Sadvṛtta can bring about positive changes in individual character, interpersonal relationships, and the development of an ethical and compassionate society.
