ඩෙරීඩියානු විසංයෝජනය කලාවේ ප්‍රගමනයට දැක්වූ දායකත්වය- The Contribution of Derridean Deconstruction to the Progress of Art

This study examines the contribution of Jacques Derrida’s theory of Deconstruction to the criticism of art, literature, and culture within the philosophical framework of postmodernism. Postmodernism emerged during the twentieth century as an alternative intellectual movement to modernism, critically challenging established notions of absolute truth, fixed meaning, binary oppositions, and systems of knowledge structured by power. Within this philosophical context, Derrida’s concept of deconstruction argues that a text or work of art does not possess a single, fixed, or ultimate meaning. Instead, meaning is continuously constructed and reconstructed through language, context, and the interpretations of readers or viewers. This research adopts a qualitative research methodology and is based on conceptual analysis, literature review, and comparative analysis. The primary objectives of the study are to identify the fundamental philosophical characteristics of deconstruction, analyze its role in the criticism of art and literature, explain the transformation of the concepts of meaning and truth in postmodern society, and evaluate the contribution of deconstruction to the development of art. Deconstruction challenges traditional artistic conventions, fixed interpretations, and creative boundaries by encouraging the production of new meanings, multiple interpretations, critical readings, and audience-centered approaches to interpretation. As a result, it has enabled contemporary artists to explore innovative aesthetic practices, transcend conventional artistic limitations, and present artworks as open systems of meaning rather than closed and definitive expressions. Consequently, deconstruction has significantly influenced the development of contemporary art by promoting experimentation, interpretive plurality, and critical engagement. Therefore, this study concludes that deconstruction is a major philosophical approach within postmodern thought that has introduced new critical perspectives and research directions in the fields of art, literature, and cultural studies.
