ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ වියපත් කාන්තාවන් මුහුණදෙන සෞඛ්‍ය අභියෝග සඳහා සමාජ වැඩ මැදිහත්කරණය - Social Work Intervention for the Health Challenges Faced By Elderly Women in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka's aging population is experiencing a phenomenon known as the "feminization of aging." This is largely due to the increasing proportion of older women relative to older men, which results from women's longer life expectancy. As the elderly population becomes more feminized, they face a number of health problems. This research was conducted with the objectives of identifying the psychosocial and economic factors that affect the health of older women, identifying the adequacy and quality of current health services to meet the needs of the elderly female population, and identifying ways in which social work interventions should be implemented for the health of older women. To achieve these objectives, a systematic review methodology was adopted based on secondary data. Accordingly, the data collected was analyzed through thematic analysis. The findings of the research revealed that the elderly population is increasing and changing rapidly compared to past population projections, and that women can be identified in large numbers when considering gender on a socio-economic basis. Also, with the aging of women, a large increase in health challenges such as disabilities, mental disorders, non-communicable diseases, and physical weakness can be identified. Also, under these circumstances, it was possible to identify that the entire female community is being challenged in the social structural change. Social work intervention for this is carried out in a number of areas. It is a comprehensive mechanism that targets older women, their families and communities, based on the multiple professional roles of social work, and can address the health challenges of older women by providing appropriate interventions at the grassroots level.
