Abstract

Ivermectin, a broad spectrum anti-parasitic agent, has been recognised by the World Health Organization as an essential medicine for decades. It has never been registered for human use in Sri Lanka. This review aims to discuss the usefulness of ivermectin with regards to locally endemic neglected tropical diseases, namely, strongyloidiasis, trichuriasis, lymphatic filariasis and scabies.
