Macrophage activation syndrome – A physician’s nightmare: A case report on life threatening complication of adult-onset Still’s disease

Macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) is a subset of Haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) - a rare but life-threatening multisystem disorder stemming from excessive immune system activation. Early recognition and prompt treatment are necessary to avoid numerous rapidly evolving complications. This case report describes about a young patient with adult onset stills disease evolving into MAS, who despite optimal medical management succumbed to the complications.
