Recurrent abdominal pain in a child caused by mesenteric lymphatic malformation

Recurrent abdominal pain in children is often attributed to functional causes and constipation. In atypical presentations, pathology could be of surgical origin. Nine year old boy with recurrent episodes of abdominal pain associated with non-bilious vomiting presented with many normal radiological and haematological studies. At laparotomy, a lymphatic malformation confined to mesentery getting distended following meals causing mesenteric ischemia identified. Children with abdominal lymphatic malformation presenting with this clinical picture is very rare.
