
Integrated Geospatial Feature Extraction and Land Mapping of Eastern India Using High-Resolution Satellite Data
Abstract
This study presents a comprehensive approach to extracting geospatial features from high-resolution satellite imagery of a terrestrial region located in eastern India. The analysis employed remotely sensed data acquired through the European Space Agency (https://www.esa.int/). The raw radiance data were pre-processed to generate geophysical parameters encompassing atmospheric, oceanic, and terrestrial domains. Satellite imagery underwent radiometric correction, noise reduction, and contrast enhancement to improve visual and analytical quality. Adaptive median filtering techniques were applied to suppress artifacts introduced during image acquisition, ensuring the preservation of true pixel intensity patterns. False colour composites constructed from red, near infrared, and short-wave infrared spectral bands facilitated detailed land cover identification and classification. Georeferencing and precise on-screen digitisation were performed to produce accurate thematic layers. The resulting geodatabase serves as a valuable resource for quantitative assessments and automated report generation, supporting effective evaluation of land resources and environmental monitoring.
