The following Corrigendum aims to rectify our original paper as the dataset used is the study was misquoted. The original version of the paper erroneously state that the King et al. (2003) MODIS cloud product dataset was used in the analysis. However, the analysis rely on the CERES cloud dataset derived from MODIS by Minnis et al. (2011). This was only indicated in the text, but not properly cited. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.
The first part of the first paragraph of Section 2 (Data and Methods) should read:
We analyse all-sky albedo (α) as obtained from satellite-observed radiometric fluxes from CERES (Clouds and the Earths Radiant Energy System) (Wielicki et al., 1996) and its dependence on cloud fraction (f c) and LWP derived from MODIS (MODerate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) (Minnis et al., 2011). Both instruments are carried by Aqua, a sun-synchronous polar orbiting satellite that crosses the equator at 13:30 local time in ascending node and the data is distributed as part of the Single Satellite Footprint collection (SSF1-deg Edition 2.7).
