Emission and long-range transport of trace elements in Europe Cover

Emission and long-range transport of trace elements in Europe

Open Access
|Jan 1984

Abstract

Anthropogenic emissions of several trace elements have been estimated for European countries, using appropriate emission factors and available statistical information on industrial production and energy consumption. The emission estimates are compared with measured daily air concentrations at Birkenes in Southern Norway, using a simple trajectory model for selected days, and a statistical trajectory sector analysis for the whole period August 1978-June 1979. The results show good agreement between measured and calculated concentrations for V. Mn. Cr, Cd and Pb. while air concentrations of As, Sb and Se are not fully accounted for by the emission estimates.
