Abstract
A general expression is obtained for the propagation of a heated jet in a stagnant environment. It is shown that W. Schmidt’s and Tollmien’s solutions are contained in the general one.
A new cross-sectional velocity distribution is proposed which seems to be preferable above the generally accepted Gaussian distribution.
