Scatterometer winds composited according to the phase of tropical intraseasonal oscillations
Abstract
Satellite measured, scatterometer winds are composited according to the longitudinal phase ofupper tropospheric divergence associated with the eastward propagating, tropical intraseasonaloscillations. Results suggest that surface wind anomalies may be of global scale. They can beseen clearly in the zonal average. Accompanying anomalies in frictional torques vary by 5 Hadleys (1 Hadley=1018 kg m2 s-2).
