Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to present a survey of published data on chemical analysis of atmospheric precipitation; to discuss different cycles proposed for inorganic compounds in atmospheric precipitation and, finally, to assess the importance of these compounds from different points of view. Investigations of rainwater with a view to determine atmospheric pollution in industrial areas will be mentioned incidentally but no results will be given in detail as they concern only small areas and abnormal conditions. The literature on this special subject is, furthermore, rather voluminous and should well deserve a separate review.
