Abstract
The 44th volume of Tellus will be published this year. C.-G. Rossby, who initiated the publication of Tellus, envisaged a wide interdisciplinary forum for exchange of research achievements in the geophysical sciences, characterized by judicious application of basic mathematics and physics as well as chemistry. A notable development has taken place in the area of geophysical sciences since the late 1940s.
