On the cut-off problem in linear CISK-models

Abstract

The shortwave cut-off properties of linear solutions to slightly different quasi-geostrophic layer models forced by diabatic heating due to latent heat release from convective clouds are discussed. The physics of the cut-off phenomenon is illustrated by means of an analytic and a layer model.
