Preface

The growing interest in Polar Lows has resulted in increased investigation of this atmospheric phenomenon. Several groups, particularly in Norway, Denmark, and the USA, have recently started extensive research work in this field. Although well known to meteorologists for many years, relatively little has been published on Polar Lows. With the publication of this special issue, Tellus wants to contribute to better description and understanding of these special kinds of atmospheric vortices.
