Abstract

Mak's (1976) model for the macro-structure of the undisturbed lower trade-wind circulation is modified by taking into account the potential temperature distribution in the layer above the trade wind inversion. The downstream variations of temperature, wind and the height of the inversion base predicted by the modified model are found to agree reasonably well with those for the BOMEX region during an undisturbed period.
