Abstract
The advection of substances in a fluid computed with a finite grid resolution is known to smooth out concentration gradients. A numerical method based on the determination of the zero, first and second order moments of the concentration in each cell is shown, through various 2-dimensional numerical experiments, to suppress the spatial truncation error substantially.
