Abstract
Two months of almost daily observations of temperature variations on a section through the coastal region of the Baltic are presented. The results are found to be compatible with theoretical expectations (Walin, 1972; Csanady, 1968). In particular, we have observed large amplitude temperature variations confined within a region extending 5–10 km from the coast. Although this is not finally proved, these perturbations seem to propagate as internal Kelvin waves along the coast.
