Abstract
Air sample collection for CO. analysis using the compression system of commercial aircraft (i.e. "bleed air" from the jet engine or air from a separate turbocompressor as on the DC-S) was introduced in 1962 (Bischof, 1970). By this method, measurements from higher altitudes and over larger distances became possible.
