
Small-scale variations of the contamination of rain caused by washout horn the low layers of the atmosphere

Abstract
Detailed observations of the contaminant concentration in rain in an area of about 400 km2 surrounding Uppsala show that the concentrations of potassium, calcium, chlorine and sulphur have a maximum in and close to the town. This is explained by washout in the subcloud layer, which is most polluted in the town. The results obtained agree well with theoretical considerations.
