Abstract

The influence of an air layer between target and radiometer to airborne surface temperature measurements with radiometers is investigated experimentally for altitudes up to 8000 ft (approx. 2400 m) above ground. Calculations made by use of a special radiation chart agree very well with the measurements although the spectral regions of the chart and the radiometer are a little different. Therefore, simple working correction charts of the influence of air layers of 3000 ft (approx. 900 m) and 1000 ft (approx. 300 m) resp., are calculated by use of this radiation chart. The comparison of the correction chart's values and those measured with the radiometer shows a satisfactory result.
