Abstract
Net fluxes of radiation in the 15 micron carbon dioxide band at the top and bottom of the atmosphere have been calculated for several atmospheric models and with various cloud heights. The variation of the fluxes with carbon dioxide amounts is determined, and its effect on temperature discussed. Plass’ estimate of a temperature drop of 3.8° C due to a halving of the carbon dioxide concentration appears to be too high by a factor of two or three.
