Correction: Gender and Social Contacts: Labour Market Entry Among Refugee and Family Reunion Migrants in Sweden

Correction

I add two additional tables to Weber (2024): weighted descriptive statistics and a summary table clarifying how I arrive at the final analytical sample.

Table R1 presents weighted descriptive statistics. Proportions are weighted using the variable vikt2. The results for the dependent (time to first job) and main independent (contacts at arrival) variable are in line with the results presented in the original article. When comparing Table 1 in the manuscript and Table R1 in the correction, we find that the stratified sampling technique led to an overrepresentation of migrants from South and East Asia and the Pacific, sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America when compared to the national average in 2010. The stratified sampling technique also led to smaller differences in men’s and women’s educational attainment.

I also present a summary table to clarify how many observations were excluded in each subsequent step of the sample restrictions (Table R2). I received permission and access to the LNU-UFB data file on 13/01/2017 at the Stockholm University Demography Unit (SUDA). This file comprised 4,183 observations, including non-migrants. In order to make the sample restrictions, I needed to rely on a number of different variables in the original dataset. Table R2 shows that most observations were excluded due to the age restrictions, as described in the original article. However, the number of observations excluded in each subsequent step was clarified. As in the original article, the final analytical sample comprises 1,925 individuals: 821 men and 1,104 women.
