Mündig und verantwortungsvoll: Anforderungen an eine zeitgemäße ökonomische Bildung
Abstract
This article examines the current state of economic education in Germany and highlights key perspectives. Based on an understanding of economic education as an integral part of general education, it demonstrates that it extends far beyond consumer education, financial literacy, or career guidance. Its goal is to empower individuals to make informed economic decisions, understand economic interrelationships, and play a responsible role in shaping social structures. Against this backdrop, the article outlines the subject’s developmental trajectory, analyzes its institutional framework, and formulates seven requirements for economic education in the 21st century.
