Abstract
Digitisation is leading to an ongoing transformation of the media ecosystem. The global power of platform monopolies and the increasing importance of artificial intelligence are just two examples of the need to update media economics. Important goals are the preservation of a diverse and truthful supply of media products and the strengthening of democracy. The articles make suggestions for the further development of the German and European media landscape. They present regulatory instruments to curb disinformation and polarisation and show ways in which public and private providers can continue to ensure the supply of information to responsible citizens through coopetition.
