Open Access

Abstract

In the digital economy, general and personal data are vital for the success of individuals and businesses. Inadequate personal data protection infringes on an individual’s fundamental rights and can jeopardize national security. Vietnam has enacted various measures but lacks a unified personal data protection law. This article examines Vietnam’s personal data framework, compares it with regulations from the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and references laws from Singapore, Thailand, and South Korea to highlight relevant legal matters.
