Abstract
The emergency arbitrator mechanism, despite its recent establishment, has made certain contributions to the development of international commerical arbitration. However, this mechanism has not been recognized and recorded in the national arbitration laws as well as the rules of procedure of arbitration institutions in Vietnam. In this article, the author aims to describe the operating mechanism and to discuss the benefits and limitations of the emergency arbitrator mechanism. Accordingly, the author will draw some conclusions regarding the recognition of this mechanism into Vietnam arbitration laws with the goal of developing the commercial arbitration arena in Vietnam.
