Abstract
The Hieracium collections of Karl Touton (1858–1934) and August Schlickum (1867–1946) in the Botanical Museum Berlin (B), comprising over 26,000 specimens, were examined and the type specimens identified. Of the more than 500 Hieracium taxa described by Touton and now belonging to Pilosella, 325 names are lectotypified and the new combinations Pilosella bauhini subsp. hispidissimigenes (Touton ex Zahn) Gottschl., P. piloselloides subsp. hirsuticeps (Nägeli & Peter) Gottschl., P. ziziana subsp. obovatifolia (Zahn) Gottschl., and P. ziziana subsp. insignis (Nägeli & Peter) Gottschl. are proposed. The strong fragmentation of species introduced by Touton prompted a revision, as a result of which 407 names are assigned as synonyms to a total of 56 more comprehensive taxa.
