Abstract
This study introduces a control approach that enhances a PID-based active suspension with a skyhook-inspired semi-active effect. PID is widely used in active systems, while skyhook provides effective damping for semi-active setups. The method combines the PID force with an adaptive algorithm that mimics skyhook behaviour. This allows a single actuator to benefit from both control types. The resulting controller, PIDcSky (PID combined Skyhook), offers a simple way to bring semi-active advantages into active designs.
