Abstract
Sustainability is one of the most used words these days. Sustainable development approaches are relevant wherever the business. Because there is a bewildering array of indicators that relate to university competitiveness the article emphasizes the importance of sustainability indicators. Starting from the impact on international rankings a bibliometric analysis was built in order to extract information. An overall assessment of the subject revealed the main topics that configure the research on university sustainability. The sense of the right direction for the future, and being in touch with students’ desires to avoid waste and environmental impact, is what led many universities to explore the sustainability rankings and research on this subject.
