An Innovative Integrative Conceptual Framework for the Sustainable Fashion Industry
Abstract
This study proposes an innovative conceptual framework based on an integrative framework which contains four dimensions: management, originality, sustainability, and authenticity, which will be applied for the analysis of sustainable development of businesses in the fashion industry. The study starts from the observation that the fashion industry faces major challenges generated by digitization, globalization, and increasing pressures regarding social and environmental responsibility, which require innovative and sustainable approaches. The study considers the importance of effective management, originality in design, environmental sustainability, and cultural authenticity, but there is a lack of systematic models that simultaneously integrate these dimensions. To address this gap, the proposed methodology is based on the construction of a conceptual model, using specific key performance indicators. The research questions aim to assess how each component influences competitiveness in the fashion industry and to identify correlations with sustainable development goals. The selected indicators may provide a practical tool for companies and researchers, facilitating performance monitoring and the formulation of strategic recommendations. The main contribution of this study is to provide an applicable framework that synthesizes existing data into a unified framework, integrating the strategic, creative, ethical and cultural dimensions of innovation. Moreover, the paper attempts a first empirical validation of the conceptual framework by applying it to three global companies. The findings of this paper may contribute to the development of a more responsible, competitive, and creative global fashion sector.
