Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has evolved from a niche theoretical concept into a omnipresent technological reality, marking one of the fastest and most profound technological revolutions in history. Intelligent algorithms and autonomous systems are already influencing multiple aspects of social and economic life, while also generating significant legal challenges. Faced with this exponential evolution, the law – especially intellectual property law, is confronted with the need to adapt traditional concepts to new realities. This article aims to analyze both the opportunities and difficulties associated with implementing emerging AI-based systems in business models, from the perspective of copyrights law and knowledge management. The paper explains the potential role of AI in supporting the fundamental dimensions of KM: the creation, storage and retrieval, sharing, and application of knowledge. The paper puts all these economics elements through a legal filter, analyzing the possibility of AI being the owner/ author of an work or just a simple assistant, the conditions of originality and innovation being indispensable.
