AI and Leadership: A Bibliometric Analysis Cover

Abstract

Artificial intelligence is evolving rapidly changing the different leadership roles in organizations. On the one hand, human leadership shapes the way AI is integrated in an organization and the way it is accepted by employees. On the other hand, AI can take a leadership role influencing decisions in an organization. Previous research shows that AI can create insecurity and fear among employees because of its ability to perform repetitive tasks more efficiently than humans. In this case, leadership has the role to make employees comfortable with using AI and making it a useful tool for creating competitive advantage. The objective of our article is to perform a bibliometric analysis of articles related to the topics of “AI” and “leadership” in order to understand the different valences AI leadership has in organizations. The methodology used is based on keyword searches, visual mapping of research themes, and relevance analysis using VOS Viewer software. The research results show a significant increase in academic interest in the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) combined with leadership. The analysis identified seven clusters that emphasize several perspectives on AI leadership in organizations. The clusters reveal both the impact that AI can have on competitive advantage and employee performance, but also the fears associated with its development.
