Employee Voices on Digital Change: A Sentiment Analysis of Work-Related Online Discussions
Abstract
Digital change is one of the most used terms these days. Every company and organization wants to implement it as soon as possible with as many digital tools as available, but these changes are in direct relationship with how the employees perceive them and how the adapt to them, Automation can be very helpful, but if it isn’t’ implemented right, many employees show negative emotions towards it, which slows down everything. In this article I examine how employees really feel about this wave of changes that they must face at work. For this I used the Reddit platform, because it allowed employees to speak freely, under anonymity and I manually collected 100 comments in the sphere of digital change and automation to see what the results are.
To analyze these comments, a sentiment analysis approach was applied in Python, followed by additional processing and visuals from RStudio. This combination allowed for a clearer interpretation of emotional patterns and recurring themes within employee discourse. The results highlight not only general attitudes toward digital change, but also underlying concerns related to workload, adaptation, and the way digital tools are integrated into daily work practices. By focusing on employee sentiment, this study emphasizes the importance of considering human reactions alongside technological goals when implementing digital change initiatives.
