ICT Competences in Educational Sector in Romania Cover

Abstract

The main objective of the research paper is to analyze different aspects of digital technology usage in teaching and learning, with additional accent on the main difficulties and best practices. There were 151 responses to the questionnaire. The respondents are teachers from schools in Romania, with different levels of teaching: preschool, primary, secondary, high school, professional. The survey was conducted in January 2026 using the online Computer Assisted Web Interview. The questionnaire had the following types of questions: close-ended questions, scale-response questions and open- ended questions. The responses were analyzed with the statistics software SPSS 20 for Windows, using: descriptive statistics, correlation and factor analysis. The results underline the following aspects: Use of digital competences; Use and creation of open educational resources; Impact on the quality of the teaching process; Impact on pupils from the teachers’ perspective; Main difficulties in applying digital tools; Future needs in digital competences. The results obtained highly correspond to the tendencies in education industry. The results of this research contribute to raise awareness on the impact of digital technologies both on teachers and pupils. From this perspective, a further development can be closely linked to the ethical and inclusive aspects linked to digital technology and artificial intelligence adoption in education.
