Research on Utilizing AI in Educational Environment

Although AI offers multiple benefits, there are also challenges related to its use in education and its penetration into schools and students’ daily lives requires rigorous monitoring. Artificial intelligence should be seen as a complementary educational tool and used to personalize the learning process, analyze student progress and optimize teaching methods. Teachers are already facing changes in the way students approach the homework or assignments they receive, because of access to different AI platforms. The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the educational system must be closely monitored because it constitutes a challenge for both teachers and parents. In this context, the present study consists of determining the attitude of parents towards artificial intelligence in education and to what extent the frequency of use of artificial intelligence by their children is linked to perceived learning outcomes and students’ well-being.

The study is a pilot one, the online questionnaire used as an instrument being applied to a restrained sample of 27 parents whose children use AI tools for learning. As a result, the results obtained are of an exploratory nature intended to clarify a series of aspects related to the problems faced by decision-makers, who in this case are the parents. The results obtained by processing the collected data support a reluctance of parents regarding the use of AI, their greatest concerns being related to the increase in the time children spend on screens and the possible loss of independent thinking. The perceived risk regarding the encouragement of academic dishonesty was lower, but not negligible.
