“Checklist 5.0”: A Bibliometrics-Informed Instrument for Determining Whether a Study Truly Belongs to Industry 5.0

This article structures and proposes an instrument that defines the Industry 5.0 paradigm and determines whether a proposed study, project, or topic can be classified as a part of the 5.0 paradigm rather than a reinterpreted Industry 4.0 contribution. We are building a bibliometric mapping of the core Industry 5.0 and Society 5.0 literature and extracting and translating the recurrent pillars to define the operational evaluation tool, “Checklist 5.0”. The instrument has a two-tier structure, must have context-dependent criteria, and it covers four broad pillars: the human-centered orientation integrated in the industrial systems, the sustainability perspective, the resilience and adaptability in the organizational and sociotechnological setting, and the governance and trust, which enables a responsible deployment of advanced technologies. This paper also aims to offer a methodology for the checklist, to classify and assess the claims of Industry 5.0 and Society 5.0, improving the conceptual clarity and enabling a more rigorous literature review.
