Abstract

Economic diplomacy has become increasingly important over the years for achieving foreign policy objectives. While being traditionally rooted in political and economic theory, economic diplomacy has evolved to become a multidisciplinary field, intersecting with international relations, sustainability, digital transformation, and cultural diplomacy. This evolution has been accompanied by a steady increase in academic output and global research collaboration. The major research question focuses on tracing the evolution of economic diplomacy in scientific research. The results demonstrate a shift toward more diversified, interdisciplinary research agendas, reflecting changing global priorities and geopolitical dynamics. These insights provide a foundation for future research, emphasizing economic diplomacy's strategic importance in navigating global uncertainty and promoting collaboration between the nations.
