The Role of a Sports Psychologist in Preparing a Female Athlete for the Paralympic Games
Abstract
Sport psychology is a field that is gaining importance in response to the growing demand for a comprehensive approach to athlete development. The conducted study focused on exploring the role of a sport psychologist in preparing a female athlete for the Paralympic Games. The research employed the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) method along with a semi-structured interview technique. The qualitative analysis enabled the identification of key concepts and codes reflecting the psychologist’s influence both within and beyond the domain of physical culture. The findings clearly confirmed the significant role of the sport psychologist in fostering the mental resilience of the athlete under study.
