Composition, Order, and Motivation in Ezekiel’s Two Editions

Abstract

The different textual shapes of the book of Ezekiel allow readers to understand the book’s growth, revealing both compositional technique and theological motivation for the new shape of scripture. The present article briefly summarizes the state of research on P967, highlighting a largely unaddressed problem within the research. It then considers the most important compositional details that establish the text as expansionary before commenting on the motivation for each textual shape.
