So far undetermined Middle Miocene (Badenian) bird fossils from the Mátraszőlős 3 site (Nógrád county), Part II. (Ardeidae, Scolopacidae, Columbidae, Apodidae, Picidae, Strigidae and Passeriformes)

Abstract

This article is a continuation of the previous article (Horváth 2023. Description of representatives of the family Phasianidae from Mátraszőlős 3 (Nógrád county, Hungary) by means of recent finds of Badenian age – Ornis Hungarica: DOI: 10.2478/orhu-2023-0024), which also presents the new finds from the Mátraszőlős 3 site. In the previous article, 4 extinct taxa of the order Galliformes, including the family Phasianidae, were described, while in the sequel members of the families Ardeidae, Scolopacidae, Columbidae, Strigidae, Apodidae, Picidae, and members of the order Passeriformes, Alaudidae, Hirundinidae, Sittidae, Muscicapidae, Turdidae, Prunellidae, Laniidae, Sturnidae, Fringillidae and Emberizidae, are described. This article discusses the identification of 58 bone fragments.
