Abstract

The multifunctional properties related to a recently discovered Schiff base compound, [5-(4-nitrophenyl)-4-((4-phenoxy- benzylidene)amino)-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol] (NPAT), as one of the effective corrosion inhibitors for carbon steel in acidic environment are examined in the presented work. Potentio-dynamic polarization as well as electro-chemical impedance spectroscopy approaches have been utilized to assess the compound’s anticorrosive efficacy. In addition, its antibacterial and antioxidant properties were assessed using disc diffusion and DPPH methods, respectively. Results showed significant inhibition efficiency, particularly at optimal concentrations, as well as notable biological activities, highlighting the compound’s potential in industrial and biological applications.
