Figuri Feministe Occidentale În Spațiul Românesc Postcomunist: Cum Sunt Asimilate Ideile Teoreticienelor Despre Gen În Literatura Română

This study proposes an investigation of the concepts from the field of gender studies that have been used in Romanian literature after the major ideological changes in the country after 1989. This conceptualization will be achieved based on two directions: on the one hand, an analysis of the sociocultural context and the consolidation of the gender studies in postcommunist Romania; on the other hand, a re-evaluation of the ideas from the international feminist philosophy which have been adopted as references in the Romanian literature since the 1990s. The research method will consist in discussing how the gender studies struggled to gain acceptance in Romania, encountering different types of opposition, such as associating the concept of feminism with Marxism. The paper then proposes the analysis of the specific situations from the Romanian literature in which ideas from foreign feminist theorists, both from the first and later waves of feminism, have infiltrated in various forms of representation: ecofeminism, queer-feminism, radical feminism, materialist feminism, etc. Based on the concepts of écriture féminine (Hélène Cixous), intersectionality, “post-traumatic, reflexive, and empathic subjectivity” (Teona Farmatu), posthumanism, and gender justice, the study will explore how feminist discourse in Romanian literature was constructed as a reaction to patriarchal society and social instability.
