Abstract

In machinery manufacturing the problem the recuperating waste material can be addressed by using shredding machines to reduce the size of chips and recuperate de cooling liquid. The utilization of a debris processing system in a local capacity has the potential to enhance the economic value of scrap metal when it is sent to the recycler, whilst concomitantly reducing concerns related to material handling and maintenance. The basic principles and objectives of standardization and modularization are presented, thus using a modular construction, the size and capacity of the fragmentation equipment can be scaled to increase operational efficiency. Considering that a module is a constructive element of a system, which fulfills a well-established function and forms an independent physical object. Part of the design work of the new system is saved by taking over, in construction, the known modules. General directions regarding the modular construction of such equipment are presented and by combining known subsystems, a new proposed solution can be used that allows the design and construction of product families on the same general platform.
