Abstract

Cold surface plastic deformation is an important method for improving the surface quality of parts, offering the advantage of flexibility. This paper presents preliminary research on a device designed for cold surface plastic deformation in order to identify the optimal ranges for specific input parameters. The device used for these processes incorporates rolling elements as deforming components and features a work diameter adjustment mechanism. This mechanism is equipped with a mandrel operated by a screw, which was presented in previous research. To determine the device’s working limits, the focus was on obtaining internal cylindrical surfaces with minimal roughness. The cutting speed, feed rate, and processed surface diameter were varied, while the resulting surface roughness and part dimensions were measured.
